Enugu ministry of Chieftaincy matters verifies Igwe Felix Mba of Imilike- Enu community

Enugu state government does not Impose tradional rulers that is why communities are given the responsibility to elect tradional rulers of their choice  through a free, fair and credible process. 

 The Enugu state commissioner for Chieftaincy  matters Barr. Emeka Okeke disclosed this at the verification of Chief Felix Mba as the traditional ruler elect of Imilike- Enu community in Udenu LGA of Enugu state. on 20/8/2018

“ Our mission here is an important step taken by Ministry of Chieftaincy matters before granting official recognition to traditional rulers. It is in line with directive of Enugu state Governor.                Rt. Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi. The ministry received notice from Udenu LGA that you have elected Chief Felix Uchenna Mba as your Igwe.                  So we came to confirm whether he is truly accepted by the people as their traditional ruler. 

" Government does not impose traditional rulers, that is why communities are given the freedom and responsibility to elect Igwe of their choice”.

While speaking the President- General of Imilike- Enu community Mr Charles Nwodo noted that election of traditional ruler was conducted peacefully

“ After conducting an election to choose our Igwe, we notified the Ministry of Chieftaincy through our local government. So that is why they are here to confirm that what we did was peacefull and free of crisis ”

In his contribution Deputy Chairman of People's Democratic Party Enugu state. who is also from the community, Hon. Innocent Ike Ezeoha  advised the tradional ruler elect to accommodate and protect the interest of the people for peace to reign 

“ The large turnout of people shows that Igwe elect Chief Felix Mba is the people's choice.      The new Igwe should carry everybody along.      He contested with one person, his contestant shook hands with him and congratulated him,  that shows the spirit of sportsmanship. 

I urge them to work together for peace to reign. I advise the new Igwe to emulate the former Igwe Onuorah,who worked well,.          In order to ensure development so that the community will be happy with him”.

While expressing gratitude. The Traditional ruler elect of Imilike-Enu community Chief Felix Mba promised to attract justice, security and basic amenities to the community.

“ I thank my people for choosing me as their Igwe. I promise to bring security and attract basic amenities. I will ensure good justice and prevent corruption and crisis”.

Responding The Enugu state commissioner for Chieftaincy matters Barr Emeka Okeke described the overwhelming response from the people as indication of their acceptance of Igwe elect      Chief Felix Mba as their traditional ruler.              He explained that the community will benefit from bottom to top approach of State Government through rural development grant. He promised to process the official recognition of the Igwe elect to fulfill the mandate of the people.

The occassion featured dignitaries, community leaders, women groups and other stakeholders in the area
