Verification of Chief Dr. Uche Alugwu as Igwe elect of Uwani-Umuoka Community

Development of rural areas is the Priority of     Gov. Ugwuanyi administration. The Enugu state Commissioner for Chieftaincy matters.              Barr Emeka Okeke made this known at the verification of Chief Dr Uche Alugwu as the traditional ruler elect of Uwani-Umuoka community in Udi LGA. on 20/8/2018

“ His Excellency Rt hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi is a man of integrity that believes in justice and equality treatment for all. His style of democracy believes that people are the constant in equation of governance. That is why the Governor’s welfarist approach focus on bottom to top development starting from rural areas. He believes that never again will any community be forgotten.

" The Governor does not impose traditional rulers that is why he gave communities the freedom to decide who will be their traditional rulers through a credible process. So that is why we are here to confirm the election of Chief Alugwu as Igwe elect of Uwani-Umuoka ccommunity”.

In his speech the President General of Uwani-Umuoka community Barr Joseph Onwukwe said the election of Igwe followed due process.  

“ After following due process in electing our Igwe. We are gratefull to Gov Ugwuanyi for giving us the opportunity to elect our traditional ruler.             We  appreciate the Commissioner. We promise to support. Gov Ugwuanyi with our PVC's come 2019”.  

While commending the peacefull conduct of the election the Deputy Chairman of Udi LGA.          Hon Ikechukwu Ozor urged the Igwe elect to focus on public safety and development.  

“ The bedrock of what we are doing is built on justice, peace and unity. What we are witnessing here is a testimony that Gov. Ugwuanyi is a man of justice. I am grateful to the commissioner.         I commend Umuoka community for embracing peace, unity and harmonious coexistence.          We are witnessing sincere and unity of purpose that gave rise to a consensus candidate.                 I urge the Igwe elect to sustain his sense of hardwork and humanitarian services for the development of the community”.  

In his response the traditional ruler elect of Uwani-Umuoka community Chief Dr. Uche Alugwu assured the people of equity and fairness in the discharge of his duties.  

“ My sincere appreciation to the amiable            Gov Ugwuanyi. I thank the commissioner.               I owe my people for standing behind me on the basis of truth and integrity. I pray for your support and goodwill and promise to serve to the best of my ability”.  

Responding The Enugu state Commissioner for Chieftaincy matters Barr Emeka Okeke said the massive approval of the people shows the community is in support of the Igwe elect        Chief Dr Alugwu. He promised to facilitate the official recognition of the Igwe elect to enable the community benefit from the rural development projects of Enugu state government.  

The event was attended by dignitaries, community leaders, various groups and stakeholders in the area.
