We don't impose Traditional rulers on the people .......... Barr Emeka Okeke

Ministry of Chieftaincy matters Enugu State presented Letters of Recognition and Staff of Office to Tradional ruler of Ekpunambo- Mbu community Awgu LGA.                                         Igwe Engr John Azubuike Ibe.  

Tradional ruler of Mbu- Agudele community in Isiuzo LGA. Igwe Dr. Julius Ugwuoke Agbo

And Tradional ruler of Ekoi-Iheaka in Igbo Eze south LGA. Igwe Vincent Ugwuanyi.                       At the Ministry of Chieftaincy located at Enugu State secretariats complex on 6/8/2018

While speaking The Enugu state commissioner for Chieftaincy matters. Barr. Emeka Okeke urged them to enthrone peace and progress in their communities.

“ We are here to give you formal recognition as traditional rulers in your respective communities.  I wish to remind you that this is a position of  great responsibility because you are the number one person as well as the chief security officer in your community. You are to ensure there is peace and progress in your community. You are to provide conducive environment to enable the developmental projects of  Enugu state Governor. Rt. Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi to benefit your community. If there is no peace in your place,       it will be difficult for government programmes to make impact in your community. Government partners with peacefull communities on the basis of bottom to top approach. This tells you that emphasis is on Rural Development. 

" So as we give you letters of recognition,.          you go home and maintain peace because          we believe you are the choice of your people.     We verified your election and saw that you have maximum support of your people. Government does not have a hand in making you traditional rulers. You were elected by your people. Government role is to present you recognition and staff of office upon confirmation that your election was free, fair and credible”.

Meanwhile the Igwe elects responded with gratitude

“ We appreciate the Governor and thank the commissioner and his workers for guiding election of traditional rulers peacefully.                    I promise to rule with truth and fairness”

Tradional ruler of Ekoi-Iheaka in Igbo Eze south LGA. Igwe Vincent Ugwuanyi.

“ I am gratefull and God will reward your good works.  I promise my people that peace will reign. We shall have peace and progress as one family”

Showing solidarity the Traditional ruler of Ehalumona community in Nsukka LGA.            Igwe Daniel Udeaya has this to say.

“ I congratulate the Igwes that received certificate of recognition and ask you to be strong and  prayerful.  I commend the Governor and the commissioner. When a wise leader is ruling, peace will reign. So I urge you  to apply wisdom in your leadership.  I also ask the  Lolos of the Igwes to show decorum and assist the Igwes to discharge their duties well”.

Also the Permanent secretary Enugu state ministry of Chieftaincy matters.                             Dr. Mrs Chinwe Anibueze appealed to Traditional rulers to accommodate women in their cabinet.

“ I appeal to you to be gender sensitive and  put women members in your cabinet. Because women has unique role to play for the progress of the community”.

The occassion featured cultural dances from the various communities.

Verification of Chief Dr. Uche Alugwu as Igwe elect of Uwani-Umuoka Community

Development of rural areas is the Priority of     Gov. Ugwuanyi administration. The Enugu state Commissioner for Chieftaincy matters.              Barr Emeka Okeke made this known at the verification of Chief Dr Uche Alugwu as the traditional ruler elect of Uwani-Umuoka community in Udi LGA. on 20/8/2018 “ His Excellency Rt hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi is a man of integrity that believes in justice and equality treatment for all.
