Traditional Rulers should discharge their duties in accordance with the law ....... Barr Emeka Okeke
As custodians of peace and security in the community, Traditional rulers should carry their people along and discharge their duties according to the laws of the land.
The Enugu state commissioner for chieftaincy matters. Barr. Emeka Okeke disclosed this while presenting certificate of recognition to two elected traditional rulers of Okomigbo mpu community in Aninri LGA and Adani community in Uzouwani LGA of Enugu state.
“ Having a Traditional ruler is not easy. It is a long process. But when it comes to this point. It is said to be completed. We have gone for verification to each of the communities to confirm what you did and we wrote our report and recommendation. On the strength of that His Excellency The Governor of Enugu state Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has given his recognition to the two traditional rulers.
“This marks the final endorsement of Igwe Cletus Udechukwu as traditional ruler of Okomigbo Mpu community in Aninri LGA. Also this marks the final endorsement of Igwe Patrick Ezeugwu as traditional ruler of Adani community in Uzouwani LGA. By His Excellency The Governor of Enugu state. Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi. As traditional rulers you are presented with staff of office as symbol of your authority.
“I enjoin you to ensure you carry everyone along in discharging your duty as the number one citizen of your community. The Enugu state traditional rulers law should be your guide in performing your duties” The Commissioner added
While commending the election process The Enugu state house of assembly member representing Aninri constituency Hon Mathias Ekweremadu urged the traditional rulers to follow due process in performing their functions.
In his contribution the Chairman of Uzouwani LGA Barr Fidelis Ani noted that peacefully election of traditional rulers is essential for progress in the community.
Meanwhile in their separate remarks the traditional ruler of Okomigbo Mpu community Igwe Cletus Udechukwu and traditional ruler of Adani Igwe Patrick Ezeugwu expressed gratitude for the support and goodwill and promised to rule with fairness, equity and justice.
Responding the Enugu state commissioner for chieftaincy matters. Barr Emeka Okeke advised people to embrace peacefully coexistence with their traditional rulers inorder to attract Enugu state development projects to their communities.
